Building the Virtual Machines
Oh the things you get to do when you load in a full version of Windows 7 Ultimate. I’ve been able to install all my dream software on a 800 GB partition. That leaves 3 other partitions. 2 for separate backups of 250 GB each, and 1 of about 500 GB strictly for Virtual Machines.
What is a Virtual Machine you ask? It is just about the greatest thing for IT guys, the ability to use your workstation, and run multiple Operating Systems on it.
Currently I have the following Operating Systems installed and running independently:
- Windows XP
- Windows XP Pro
- Windows 7 (32 Bit)
- Windows 8 Developer
- Windows 2008 Server
- Ubuntu 11.1 Desktop
- Ubuntu 10 Server
Why is this so great? You can run an entire test farm inside your box… testing browser incompatibilities, etc.
But, I have to keep this blog post short, I’m entertaining an IBM engineer tonight for dessert. Going to try to pitch him my PIT Crew Solutions company, maybe he’ll know some potential financial backers, X-Fingers!
